We’re VERY anxious to hear the election results. No problem any which way though, because we’ve already lined up jobs for the two of you in Fort Smith. They are one year contracts, & renewable if you enjoy it.
.
We are heading up North to Alexandria in the next few days, and then will be working our way East to Sinai. When’s Easter??? dates and specific holiday’s are just not our strong point these days… :)

The kids absolutely loved these photos of all the animals and the crater. Emile is begging me to call you and talk about it. We are pretty busy this weekend. We may try over Easter... where will you be?
Today is the day of the council elections. Rob has been acting a bit stressed about it all - even though he would say he is not stressed!
Hope all is well.

Rick -- there are 3 ways to refer to giraffes:

corps of giraffes
herd of giraffes
tower of giraffes

Personally, I like "tower". That's just kind of cool.

Great post! :)

Wow!! What a fantastic adventure!!! Your descriptions are quite vivid. Keep it up! Having been to Thailand, it’s easy for me to say now that I wish I would have waited and joined you in Africa. Can you tell I’m envious?
Love to all and continue to enjoy yourselves.

Wow.

A marathon read, but well worth it. The trip sounds like it was fantastic, although I don't think you went into enough detail about the gutted zebra. :)

It sounds like it lived up to or exceeded the tourism literature. I reviewed all the websites, trying to map out your journey and picturing where you guys might stop. What an incredible array of landscapes you journeyed through.

I love the fact that you were able to get into a political arugment in the middle of the wilds of Africa. Doesn't it say something about the state of modern America that the woman thought you had to be careful about what you say about George Bush, even in the middle of nowhere? Scary.

As inspiring and amazing as it is to meet people from other cultures, it is also illuminating to see the ugly side: female circumcision, abuse of women, alcoholism. As depressing as these things are to encounter, it is an important educational element to your journey. I will be interested to talk to the kids about these things when they get home and see how it has influenced their worldview.

Anyway, gotta go, great to read about your adventures - so much more colourful than my account!
